THE IMPORTANCE OF OUR FRIENDS
Friends come in all shapes,
Friends come in all sizes,
They are there at nightfall,
They are there when the sun rises.
While the snow places a white carpet upon the ground,
Friends are present behind closed doors,
If you had come inside,
Warmth is what you would have found,
Had you not gone looking for other things thinking you were poor.
They speak words of encouragement and give you good advice,
The sounds of their gentle voices resonate like silver bells ringing,
While the foolish ones are out searching in the snow and ice,
Within these doors our hearts are singing.
Caring can run so deep for our friends,
We are not happy when they are sad,
When someone wrongs them our hearts rend,
When their lives are filled with blessings we are glad.
They make our hard days worth living through,
They bring the sunshine to our world,
They are always there for me and you,
Always there even though the world may spin and the windsmay whirl.
Who said broken hearts never mend?
Who said they would never heal?
There must always be one friend,
Who can, once again, make life real.
Were it not for our friends,
The pieces of our hearts would shatter to the ground,
But since our hearts are in their hands,
They can be put together without the pieces being scattered.
Their hearts are worth their weight in gold,
Rich and poor have no distinction,
Books leave so many things untold,
All this cannot be covered in fiction.
Cherish your friends and their hearts of gold and silver,
Cherish what young and old have to teach,
For when you float on Desolation river,
You will have a destination to reach.
